OUT 833--ILLMO BITZ

While we are BBQing and taking the day off, let us remember those who fought not just for justice in America for for unjustices across the world , willingly and unwillingly on Monday.

HEY OUTTOWNERS!

ITS THURSDAY

TIME TO GET TOWNED!!!
The big newz in the ILLMO A&E this week is
(REUTERS) Former paint salesman Lee DeWyze was the surprise winner of "American Idol" on Wednesday, beating front-runner Crystal Bowersox on a night that saw the talent show's former champions reunite to bid farewell to Simon Cowell.
DeWyze, a 24-year-old Chicago native (Mount Prospect to be exact) , won the coveted title and a recording contract after a nationwide phone and text vote based on the contestants' performances the night before.
Both contestants auditioned in Chicago. Less than 2 percent of the votes separated them

"Idol" judges had all but anointed Bowersox the winner after her three songs on Tuesday outclassed a nervous DeWyze. But Americans made up their own minds and chose DeWyze.
"I have never been happier in my life," said a stunned DeWyze, choking back tears after the result was announced at the climax of a two-hour finale that featured performances by Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson and Joe Cocker.
"It felt like a huge weight is off my shoulders. Now that this big step is done, it's on to the next step, which is to make an album and go on tour and do all the things I've wanted to do for a long time," he told reporters later.
shy, he blossomed in later rounds of the show, and emerged as a serious threat to Bowersox after a rousing version of the Leonard Cohen classic "Hallelujah" last week.
His cover of U2's "Beautiful Day", his first single, was made available immediately on iTunes. His debut album, on a Sony Music Entertainment record label, will likely follow in the fall.
Bowersox, 24, said she had sensed before the show that DeWyze would take the title. "I knew Lee was going to win and people seem to be surprised by that, but I just had a feeling.
"I couldn't be happier for him...We both win. Both of us are going to have very successful careers and we're going to be friends for a long time," she told reporters backstage.
Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, St. Louis native Michael McDonald (who was almost got upstaged by Idol finalist Michael Lynch on the "Takin it to the Streets" duet they did) and Alanis Morissette were also among the guest performers on Wednesday, while Poison rocker and "Celebrity Apprentice" winner Bret Michaels played his first live gig since suffering a brain hemorrhage in April and a mini-stroke last week.

Also the return of Paula Abdul and 15 former contestants attended to bid farewell to judge Simon Cowell who was reportedly moved.
And of course the rejects who became big stars as well performed Gen. Larry Platt and William Hung.
Congrats to the ILLIMOian DeMyze. Lets hope he has a promising career. But to be quite honest, his personality is quite blah. Not exciting at all as opposed to Bowersox who was more livelier and polished. But oh well. Its going to be interesting how Idol will play next year after Cowell’s departure and his show X Factor debuts January 2011 competing with Idol. And the winner is….....guess we will find out in January.

The big newz story in the STL area this week was NFL Owners hearing out ST. Louis Rams minority owner Stan Kroenke's plans to comply with cross-ownership rules in bid to buy Rams total ownership. He had the meetings at the headquarters in Irving Texas and it was reported that Kroenke will comply by the rules but did not disclose how he would do that and just said , "I'll let (the league) do that."

Last month, he came up with the plan to sell his portion of the Rams to his billionaire Walmart heiress wife Ann , as a way to satisfy the cross-ownership rules for one person owning multi sports teams in different leagues (because he also owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets and NHL's Colorado Avalanche.)But this week he decided not to do that (smart move). It is reported that league wants Kroenke as the next Rams' owner (but what about its initial bidder Illinois biz tycoon Shahid Khan?) The NFL’s finance committee board will vote in August on its decision on Kroenke;s bid by all 32 club owners.

Hmmm. What do yawl think will happen to make them pass Kroenke? More than likely he will sell one of his teams in order to satisfy the cross ownership rule. But the question is, why are the NFL owners more adamant to have him as a owner as opposed to Shahid?

Speaking of sports teams and their supporting an interest, The St. Louis Cardinals wants to sway President Barack Obama to award St. Louis baseball legend Stan Musial the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The ball club wants fans to sign an on-line petition and take a photo with a paper cut out of Musial that can be accessed on-liine by gong on the Cards website. It was reported that Cards first base slugger Albert Pujols and actor Matthew Broderick.
The initiative was reportedly first launched Tuesday morning with a tweet from the team's official Twitter address, and in the hours that followed the Cardinals had 1,166 people sign the online petition. As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the "Stand for Stan" page had 3,900 page views, according to the Cardinals.

Hmmm, we see that the Betty White—Facebook effect in the making all over again! But, we hope Muhammad Ali gets it, though No Offense, but Ali is internationally known.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And speaking of former St. Louis Cardinals, former outfielder Brian Jordan made an appearance at Busch Stadium last Friday where he talked to kids and autographed his children's book "I Told You I Can Play" . He also made a stop at Ozzie's last Saturday afternoon to autograph his book. Jordan's second children's book is coming out in June "Overcoming the Fear of the Baseball."

St. Louis raised actress Niecy Nash graces the cover of the June issue of Ebony Magazine where she talks about her life, her career, her new man, and her stint on this season’s Dancing with the Stars. The Cover Photo was shot by Manuello Paganelli and the cover story was written by Adrienne Samuels Gibbs.

Three more Chicago based personalities made news this week .....In Touch Magazine are claiming that Chi-town based Grammy Award winning rapper/actor Common broke up with Serena Williams.Here’s what they’re reporting: "They just grew apart." Says a friend of the musician's. The duo made a last public appearance in April at the New York premiere of “Date Night (the irony) ,” but Common was acting single on the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage Cruise while promoting his film “Just Right” in Mid-May and he took his mother to the premiere of it.
Hmmm, and he was on Mo’ Nique’s talk show and she asked how was it between he and Serena and he smiled it off.

====

Also in the relations game, it has been reported that Rockford, Illinois native and Grammy Award winning singer Michelle Williams got a new man, baller Taj Gobson from the Chicago Bulls.
======
Lastly, unrelated to relations, On Sunday, Chi-town singer Brian Smith was one of two contestants voted off of BET’s gospel competition show, Sunday Best and did not make the Top 5 finalists.

And if that wasn’t enough Chi-town for ya, next month, is the world famous THE TASTE OF CHICAGO JUNE 25-27 LIVE IN CONCERT @ THE TASTE

Will Cape Girardeau be the next town to get a casino? That’s what reports are saying. From a KMOX report, the Missouri gaming Board recently released info that they are looking for another area to use its 13th gaming board license after the President Casino’s closing in July. After looking at tax breaks and incentives it looks as though Rush Limbaugh’s hometown has a leg up over St. Louis and Kansas City.

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ?????????????????????????????????????

Why was I cringing when Paula Abdul was trying to give her thanks to Simon on the American Idol finale? Why did Ellen seem a bit uncomfortable there? Why were the veteran singers on American Idol finale sounded horrible and being upstaged by the Idol winners (Mike McDonald, Barry Gibb, Daryl Hall)? Why didnt Ryan Seacrest let winner Lee DeWyze express how he felt after winning then cut him off? Why was I scared that Bret Michaels was gonna go into a brain relapse performing on the American Idol finale? Why weren't former co-team host Brian Dunkleman, winner David Cook and 2006 finalist Daughtry at the Finale? Why does
Chris Brown's new video got him sucking a ladies nipple? And why is the song called "No Bullshit?" Why in the trailers to the movie The A-team got the actors saying to the black character “I was distracted by your hair?” Why do Office Max sell potato chips and water? Why were their gun fights in the streets of Jamacia after their elections? Why are their night lights still on at the permanantly closed Mobil gas station in Clayton on? Why did janet cut off her hair? Why is Joe the Plummer on a lecture tour? And why are Wellz fargo surpoisred tehy were teh only bidder of the Coleman death house in Columbia?
