OUT 755-ILLIMO A&E BITZ

President Barack Obama will address the nation tonite, Wednesday in his first State of the Union Address that will be televised throughout the carried stations and streamed over the Internet.

We will continue to pray for the Haitians as they rebuild their country. If you want to help go to WWW.YELE.ORG for more information.

THE BIG NEWZ STORY this week was the internationally televised HOPE FOR HAITI telethon that has raised so far $61 million after the tremendous earthquake and its survivors. The celebrity telethon has so far raised $61 million for Haiti relief efforts. Charity donations for Haiti have reached $470 million, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy. The two-hour telethon was hosted by George Clooney and Wyclef Jean, and included performances by Mr. Jean, Madonna, Jay-Z, Bono, Sting, BeyoncĂ©, Justin Timberlake, and Coldplay and Chitown native Jennifer Hudson (PICTURED) who performed a powerful and emotional version of the Beatles tune, “Let it Be.” The event, which was broadcast on all major TV networks and some cable channels, brought in an average of 24 million viewers for the entire event and 83 million viewers who tuned in at some point during the telethon. Haiti earthquake survivors also listened to the telethon via a Haitian radio station based in Port-au-Prince.

Former St. Louis Cardinals Rick Ankiel was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs this week. Ankiel will play center field. Ankiel agreed to a free agent contract last week after a topsy turvy career that began with the Cards in 2006 and a head injury in May that sidelined him the rest of the 2008-2009 season.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Speaking of sports, there has been continuing rumors that Philadelphia Eagles’ Michael Vick may get traded to the St. Louis Rams next season to trade the injured quarterback Marc Bulger . This rumor has been in the air since his leaving prison in early 2009.

St. Louis native comedian/activist Dick Gregory announced Monday at Union Temple Baptist Church in D.C. that he was embarking on a 30 day fast to raise more awareness to the devastation and victims in Haiti and discuss some of the challenges ahead. Gregory started his fast on Monday in honor of the victims of the Haitian earthquake . He said that for the first seven days of the fast, he will go without anything to eat or drink including any type of food, liquids or water. He will also be confined to the church for the first 7 days. For the remaining days of the 30 day fast said he will not have any solid foods just liquids. Gregory will be monitored by Dr. Vincent Roux former Associate Dean of Howard University College of Medicine everyday for the first seven days at Union Temple. The doctor will test Gregory’s urine and blood samples and report on his overall condition daily.

Wow, this is definitely as noble effort, but is it us or is Gregory’s effort a bit self absorbed? Haiti is already in the minds of people on what needs to be done. Now its about helping them which is what millions are doing. A few years back when the late East St. Louis resident dancer/choreographer Katherine Dunham led a fast for the Haitians when they were being embargoed from refuge in this country, that made sense for awareness to be made cuz no one was thinking about the Haitians struggles. Feel us?

ST. Louis native model/fashion mogul Kimora Lee and her “husband” actor/model Djumon Hounsou (aka “Djimora”)are on the February cover of Ebony Magazine posed with their newborn Kenzo. The two sealed their relationship during a “commitment ceremony” in front of Lee’s daughters, Ming and Aoki Lee, while in Benin, Africa, last year said they are married. She also said that her ex, rap/fashion mogul Russell Simmons is still active in her life raising their daughters. In related newz, Lee will return on the Style Network with a special "Kimora's Home Movies: Baby Kenzo's Birth" which will air February 14 and a 3rd season of “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane.”

Three STL politicians are saying NO to the revoking. First was St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay who reportedly sent a letter to the Gaming Commission who was concerned about the many hundreds of jobs lost if the casino closed and millions in lost tax revenue. The other two are Sen. Robin Wright-Jones and Rep. Tishaura Jones who are proposing legislation that would prohibit the state from closing a casino on purely economic grounds.

Hmm, sounds like we got a Vote For or Against the Moat issue going on. Hmm, we think it should be closed if its not making any money or move it out of the area from the deep portion on the Riverfront which causes the casino to flood when heavy rains hit. And let’s face it Lumiere Place makes President Casino (the former Admiral) look like toy boat. And besides, Pinnacle owns both, so it will be a win for them cuz Lumiere makes up the difference of monies lost from the Prez.

Speaking of takeover, Lindenwood University could buy the Family Arena from St. Charles County. The County Board are discussing various other possibilities including Lindenwood buying or leasing the facility, a partnership or the school just running it for the county.The Board is thinking of such matters cuz of the financial losses the County has taken since the Arena opened in 1998 and the possibilities of using the arena for its ever growing school's sports programs.
Hmm, can we say the Lindenwood Arena?

Why has Pants on the Ground become the new novelty song? Why did Artie Lange try to kill himself? Why did Gary Coleman beat up his wife (weren’t they separated)? Why didn’t the media ever make known the race of the shooter in the ABB shootings earlier this month? Why is Djimora have a spiritual ceremony instead of a wedding? Why did Pink mock Beyonce on stage and calling her a "stupid girl? " Why was Karma taken off Liquid Assets Notice Me Awards' nominees for Venue of the Year and repalced with The City? Why was their an NBC talk show war between Jay Leno and Conan in the first place? And why did NBA baller Greg Ogen's girlfriend send pics of Oden frontal nude shots over the Internet?
