This thread is so full of uneducated posts, it's really disgusting. You should've known this would happen, MacRumors. These kind of articles really bring out the worst kind of people. All you fanboys should be ashamed of yourselves, really.

Did anyone notice Disney introduced their own cell phone service? Normally not much but given Steve's close ties to Disney perhaps they have shared some info? www.disneymobile.com
Some very interesting features, makes me think of things that might be available with a mac phone service.

Could the "Airplay vs. Sonos" discussion please continue in a separate thread? As different implementations of the RAOP hack will appear, this thread will continue to be worth a subscription.

125,000 is pretty darn good considering they only have 75 movies available. I would've contributed to the total if they had a half-a-decent selection.
What I don't understand is how Amazon was able to get all those studios on board, but not Apple. Prices are pretty similar. And the use terms are pretty similar. It seems as if studios just don't want to play ball with Apple. Hopefully the positive numbers will change things.

There's pretty much no news in this news piece.
We know it's going to include Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt. We know it's unlikely to be re-designed and we know it's going to be between now and May.
Where's the news here?
We need specs. Some CPU and other info, at least.

Lots of smartphones are total iPhone ripoffs with added features. They're seemingly slower, more complicated and crash more though. There's some things I absolutely hate about the iPhone, but it's an okay tradeoff.
Thats totally untrue though. Yes a lot of the wanna-be's are cheap and plastic crap but saying that an HTC EVO or Samsung Epic are slow and crash frequently is ridiculous. My EVO has been flawless since I got it (minus of course the battery life but I use 4G all the time).
Like I've said before... the iPhone and the top end Android devices are almost identical now.

Sounds like we need the return of the I Am Rich app.

I always assumed, probably wrongly, that there was some file size limit or that it could affect performance when using it for large files (I mostly work with huge ProRes files.)
Just FYI...
File size wouldn't affect performance at all, as long as you're copying between locations on the same drive. The "file" that you see in the GUI is actually a link to a location on disk where your data is; all the OS has to move is the link, which is very tiny.

Oh man. Verizon early termination fee, here I come.
Why would anybody stop their Verizon or Sprint service for an iPHONE? Does cingular even carry a broadband wireless service? EV-DO is only getting better and Cingular can't even come close to the same offerings.
I'm sure it will be a nice phone, but don't be disappointed when you can't call anybody without being in roaming. Also don't be disappointed when your bluetooth tethering for internet is slower than a 300 baud modem on a commodore 64. :D
Once again... Apple teams up with a loser. Misery loves company. I pray this contract only lasts a year or LESS. CINGULAR... jeeze:mad:

What I understood is that the word "App" by itself is not the reason for the lawsuit, but the term "App Store" is; both words used together. .
Correct. I was simply providing additional evidence that "app" was used before the App Store. Something the poster I was replying to was saying and something a lot of other posters are claiming is not true.

Really? RA used Apple Dev tools and the App Store folks put up a fight for 3 months. RA didn't break any rules and Apple doesn't have a cohesive process. RA walked away over Apple's policy conflicts, and people are defending Apple. Seriously, this behavior is still continuing at Apple, and it needs to change.
My head hurts, I'm going to go lay down...

Creative's stock up 30% in after-hours trading. The $100 million is a drop in the bucket for Apple, but it will certainly help Creative...
Which is probably why they sued. Knowing they are running out of cash, they figured "Let's jump on the bandwagon and sue someone".

Woohoo! 3GHz here we come. As was mentioned before, though, a mid-sized tower priced at the iMac level (but upgradable) would be the final logical step in the Apple product line. That would leave Woodcrest to the high end MacPro with its quad configuration.
The fasted Core 2 Extreme at launch will be 2.93 (ok, that's pretty close to 3GHz).... however, if we're going QUAD, then we're looking at Xeon 5100 series
and the 5050, 5060 and 5080 will be 3GHz and above!
What about a a Mac Pro with dual 3.73 GHz Xeon 5080's?? :D
We might need an enclosure the size of the G5 for those!!
I agree, there's space int he Apple line-up for a single cpu (Conroe) system which is aimed to business and people who want the upgradeability of a "box" but don't want to splash out on dual Xeons!!

Wow, what a fail for Micro$oft, no no I mean MicroSoft (you don't get an $ in your name anymore).
Instead of making: $5,990,000,000.00
They only made: $5,230,000,000.00
What a bunch of losers. :\

A mid-tower between the Mini and Pro seems to be the only possible home for Conroe. And, even though I would love to buy one, I'm not sure if Apple really want to release such a machine.
You never know though, we could be in for a nice surprise sometime soon.
What about the patent designs that were just shown of the Cube 2?

I'm still not too sure what to make out of these "iPhone next tuesday" rumors, from one point of view the iPhone sounds very Apple and a very much a possiblity.
But there's the sceptic in me which points out the plain fact that the iPhone rumors have been going on for at least 10 months with very little plausable information from credible sources about the potential product.
Personally I am not gearing myself up for a dissappointment, but if Apple does release the iPhone and depending on the price and feature then I may look into buying it.
And the other big question to ask will it be available for people who don't live in the US

Well... there is a backlog now, but Merom Dell notebooks are already shipping (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=77155).
Well, that's slightly depressing, but I'll keep looking at the bright side. Maybe - just maybe - they're making sure there aren't any issues prior to release. One can hope, right?

I just wonder what this will mean for storage space (SSD is expensive!) and for discrete graphics. The refresh can't be as thin as the Air itself if they want to keep room for a graphics chip.

What I find extremely interesting is the LACK of rumors on the MacBook - it's the oldest Mac in the lineup and is extremely overdue for an upgrade (almost double it's normal product cycle).
According to Macrumors Buyers' Guide the Mac Pro is the oldest Mac in the lineup. Not the Macbook.

Apple's mini displayport didn't last long, or is is Thunderbolt compatible with it?
