+1. I don't think they meant vehicle traffic, they meant network traffic.
what would "offering users a traffic service" mean? im a user. the only thing "traffic service" could mean to me is car traffic.

You are not supposed to report it. Since you can't send the report the company does not have to fix the issue. This is smart, then they can report to the world that they don't have gaps in their coverage. ;)
Take that Verizon. LOL.
Yeah, why dont you download it, then say negative things.
You can choose where the occurence happened, no matter where you are. So if at home you have crappy quality, you can later submit the report from somewhere else using the map.

Exactly how are people going to install Apple software like Aperture or Final Cut? Or re-install the OS?
I bet desktops will include them for a while, but notebooks will switch to external options. I do a lot of digital media creation, and my USB drives get used for storage soooo much more than the superdrive.

I'm a cingluar customer. My contract is up in January. If Apple does release a phone with T-Mobile, I'd switch. Not for the phone, but for Catherine Zeta-Jones. :p

In OSX, there's no way to disable the paging file (virtual memory). This is a real problem is if you have an SSD, because half the memory is allocated on the hard drive.
It should be an option, definitely.
But, if you check Activity Monitor, System Memory tab, you can see how much has actually been swapped out. On my system, which has been up almost 3 days, it says 80KB. Even though it says I have 4MB of swap file 'in use,' and have 478MB of swap-ins. The discrepancy is likely partially due to executable code, which doesn't get swapped; it just gets thrown out, and reloaded from the executable file if needed. My actual swapfile is 64MB as allocated on disk.
So, if you do have enough RAM, OS X doesn't appear to be over-eager in writing to the swapfile to an extent that an SSD would have any reduced lifetime. But there is probably plenty of other places to look, such as temporary files, needless rewriting of large sections of data, web browser caches, etc.

Today, August the 5th, is International Beer Day.
I had a cold pint of San Miguel at the beach this afternoon. Perfect weather for cold lager.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Beer_Day
Their site (http://www.internationalbeerday.com/) seems down. Here's Google's cache (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:fVbfrsCc7-AJ:www.internationalbeerday.com/+international+beer+day&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk).
Apparently, you can thank President Jimmy Carter for the vast range of quality beer from small breweries you can now get in the US, as the previously post-prohibition and tightly-regulated brewing industry was deregulated, allowing small breweries to enter the market.

I truly believe the reason we don't see iLife 07' is because it's being integrated into Leopard.
That would be fantastic! And save me the choice of which to buy...
But would they jack the price of Leopard?

Has anyone installed a Copy of Leopard on there Computer and how do you like it so far also how stable is it
Speaking from previous betas of 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3, I can tell you that it's not fun to run a beta of Mac OS X. Sometimes, it's lucky when most things work. With 10.2, I had terrible times keeping Finder going.
Besides, when you're developing a product to make sure it's compliant with a new operating system release, who has time to have fun? (Thankfully, Apple doesn't change major things as much these days.)

Actually, if they would fix the bugs in iCal I'd be happy :D
I would expect tighter intregration for the new iCal server, and other backend stuffs, maybe some professionalizing of the interface.
 you could import iphoto calenders.....:D  :p

Nothing's been set in stone yet. I like the idea of meeting up in one of the lounges and having everybody with the business card/piece of paper sticking out of their badge holder with "MR" on it so that we can identify each other.
Since I only have the Exhibit Hall pass, I likely won't be spending all that much time there, but I'll schedule things so that I can be there for any meet-ups. I'll likely not be there during or immediately after the keynote, as I'd rather follow it from the comforts of my home on MRLive than with my ear pressed up against the auditorium wall.
I'm up for just about anything anytime, so maybe someone with more constraints on their schedule can suggest a day and time for the meet-up.

My Macbook is now 10 degrees C warmer, and I can really feel the difference. A subtle whine is coming from the top left side of the computer as well. I can't see how this would be an upgrade to anything when everything was better before the update.

I think this is a good idea. Hopefully people use this app and after a few weeks of issues AT&T can review the data and start fixing the areas that have problems. I know several spots where I do not get service in DC and I plan on reporting those spots right away.
I'm not sure if this will work at all. AT&T knows that NYC (where I am), SF, and Chicago are their two biggest problems and they don't seem to be doing anything about it. It does not help that two of the three are the most important places regarding tech.
I'll give AT&T the benefit of the doubt as I hear Long Island is pretty good. OTOH my kid sister goes to Cornell and is forced to use Verizon because AT&T has no coverage there.

I agree. I recently went to Asia for two weeks and I took my mini over my video, not just because the mini came with a charger, but it's better made. My video iPod scratched the first day I had it!
I don't know about you people, but my 60GB white 5G is still looking great, only very lightly scratched on the front, and even more imperceptibly scratched on the back (you can see those scratches only under certain lighting conditions). Do you know in which case do I carry it? An iPod sock. That's right, I carry it in my right pocket, next to my bulky wallet, almost daily, since early December, and it's still looking great (actually, the sock even helps to clean the natural body grease smudges from the iPod's back plate, so every time I take it out, it just looks, well, shiny). The fact that I carry my keys in my left pocket, along with my ancient Siemens cell phone (which I hand-painted with my ex-girlfriend's black nail varnish coz' its faceplates sucked so badly, and, incidentally, still looks very shiny on most of its surface and "rugged" in the crappiest sense of the word), may explain its near-pristine condition...
Anyway, I guess I must be one lucky bastard, since the only time I dropped it, luckily it was inside the sock and fell flat on its front face, on the floor, and the HD wasn't spinning. Whew! Also, last night I was holding it with no sock whatsoever while thinking to myself, "I must lay it down before falling asleep, otherwise I may drop it", and woke up in the morning still holding it. You could say that you'd have to pry it out of my warm, living hands. :D
Oh, well, I wouldn't mind if Apple used more resistant materials, though. I'm always telling people to be very careful when even *touching* my iPod, I always pick the best spot where to lay it down when not in use, I never let it come into direct contact with any surface other than the sock or a soft cloth, etc. I certainly wouldn't mind not having to be so anal retentive about scratches... :p

Nokia annual report and accounts;
Legal Expenses Budget 250 M.
R&D Budget 1 M - sorry R&D guys, spent all the money on lawyers.
I know you are joking, but Nokia's R&D budget is actually extremely high, much higher than Apple's. The problem is that somehow they manage to get nothing back for their huge investment.

Didn't they do something like this with the eMac when it first came out? It took them a while to release that eventually to the public. My guess is what happened is that they relized that there was a lot of demand for these amongst students and teachers and got worried that they wouldn't have enough to supply the schools. Lets face it, in terms of educational markets landing a school is a big deal. Losing a few individual sales is not. The institutional deals are where the money is in education. Conisdering that its now July and summer vacation there may be a number of schools in the process of upgrades.
Either way, I really do feel it is time for Apple to drop their prices not raise them like they have with their entire product line. Most of the world is not made of money, in particular small businesses. Apple really needs to start thinking about that market. the eMac worked really well for small businesses. $800 for an all-in-one. Now you can get a headless mini for $800 add in a monitor and a keyboard and mouse and you're creeping up on $1,000. It's really hard for an IT person to convince the boss to buy a new $1,000 computer when they see eMachines at Walmart for under $500. Sure Apple's are better than an eMachine, but does someone who will be word processing and browsing the internet really need a core duo, isight, etc. etc. etc.

Who is your provider please? That's a lot cheaper than I've been quoted :D
Edit: To keep my post on topic, OP you may want to have a look at this (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1045086) (although it seems a bit OTT spec-wise), this (http://www.simplynas.com/data-robotics-drobopro-48tb-business-bundle---3-x-drobo-pros-and-24-x-2tb-hitachi-seagate-sata-ii-drives.aspx) (how cheap NAS storage can be) and this (http://blog.backblaze.com/2009/09/01/petabytes-on-a-budget-how-to-build-cheap-cloud-storage/) (just because ;))
Attach a server to serve the storage and terminate VPN connections and you should have a working solution for a reasonable cost.

There's people still happy to go for a 3GS even today over the 4 so what is people's problem that some will still want to go for a 4 when the 5 is out albeit in white and 10 months late? FFS, shut up and quit your moaning.

For playback over 3G you need to encode using the EyeTV cellular or the 480x360 iPhone preset (you can select between iPhone 480x360, or iPhone + cellular or just cellular under EyeTV's Preferences > iPhone > More Options...).
Not trying to play on 3G, just wifi remotely. Works locally, but when remote in the office (port forwarded, can watch live tv and see guide) all I get is the "this video is not compatible" when the video player comes up.

Here is Princeton's definition of an empire.
Image (http://www.anunews.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/aa-American-empire-map-of-bases-around-world.jpg)
Kind of looks like America is an empire, doesn't it? America has a military presence all around the world. That's like Rome who had a military presence all around the then known world. At the beginning of 2000, America was so powerful and had so much money under Bill Clinton's control, that if it wanted to, they could have taken over the whole world.
America is not an empire in the sense of Rome ... They may be vocal on democracy for other nations but they are not looking to conquer other countries and take them under American rule ... America does not wish to take over the world.
